The development of Edward’s practice in the Mariner’s Way project has been to focus on a sculptural installation that bears reference to the mythological, historical and social background of ancient Dartmoor. This project has broadened and deepened Edward’s research skills and has made a direct impact on the location, construction and material which was used in his installation.

The construction of installation will be presented in the shape of a cross to symbolise a waypoint on the walk. This shape is illustrated around Dartmoor to help travellers find their way due to lack of landmarks. The site-specific art piece now has a symbolism that embodies the ancient construction of waypoints on the Dartmoor landscape.
