This sculpture Us was created by Edward Crumpton for a clients wife to embody the interest and devotion she has in her love of the sea, family and the colour blue.
The two curves in the sculpture are inspired by the natural curves seen at the water’s edge. The shapes also express’ a feeling of coming together and wholeness. The hand-knotted rope, which is Edwards primary medium, is used to connect the sculpture to Dorset’s history of rope making.

Involving their children in the artwork was an important aspect to the project and this was achieved by creating monkeys fist’s knots seen inside the sculpture. Nestled inside these knot’s, blue spheres can be seen to connect the piece back to the sea and the colour. The knots were created when Edward visited their home in Dorest where he was able to learn more about the clients’ family.
